'What did police do for so many days?': HC over Sandeshkhali incident

In the aftermath of the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers, questions regarding the role of the police have surfaced, prompting a response from Calcutta High Court Judge Jai Sengupta. The judge expressed surprise at the police's handling of the case, raising concerns about the arrest of only four individuals despite approximately 3,000 people being implicated in the incident.

Judge Sengupta directed the state to promptly apprehend the accused and criticized the police for not presenting the case diary, which was previously requested. The judge emphasized the need for transparency, stating, "What the police has done for so many days can be understood by looking at the case diary. The police should bring the case diary on Tuesday."
